Tennis players of Odisha have been winning laurels for the state despite not getting enough opportunity to practice and prepare at the state government-owned courts at Kalinga Stadium here. Aditya Satpathy won the under-18 boys’ singles title in the 17th R S Sagar Memorial AITA Championship Series Tournament, held at SDS Tennis Academy in Lucknow from Oct 30 to Nov 3, 2017.
Returning to competition after a six-month layoff due to knee injury, Bhubaneswar lad Aditya beat A Akhilendra from Karnataka in the final 6-1. 6-3. This was the first AITA under-18 singles title and fifth ovearll for Aditya, whose earlier four include three in under-16 boys’ singles and one in under-18 boys’ doubles.
